Plant Care Tips 🪴
If you recently joined us for our first ever community event - the Wildgrid Plant Swap - then you'll likely have some new leafy friends that could use a little help thriving in their new home. Keep reading to find our top tips for introducing new plants into a new environment.
Tip #1: Know How Much Light and Water 🌞☀️
Having a good idea of what light and humidity conditions suit your new plant best is ideal before picking their new spot. Every plant needs sun, but not every plant will be happy right on your windowsill! Follow watering guidelines for your specific plant, as overwatering and under-watering can be easy to do!
Tip #2: Give it Some Space 🧘
You want to be sure your new plants aren’t home to any uninvited guests or pests! Avoid clustering it with other plants for a few days and keep an eye out for any signs of unusual critters or fungus.
Tip #3: Let it adjust 🌱
Try not to move it to too many different spots. Unless you’re seeing clear signs of distress (i.e. scorched or dry leaves from too much direct sun), let it settle in its new home! Most plants need a few days to get used to a new environment. Knowing that, try not to repot right away either.
Tip #4: Defer to any Prior Advice📝
If the previous owner recommended conditions that they’ve seen it thrive under, go with that! Each plant is unique and it’s best to change its care conditions as little as possible, especially if they found something that worked.
Good luck with your new plant babies!
